Border Terrier Canada, Sanction Match (Terriers only)

Saturday, December 02, 2006 - Brantford, Ontario

Border Terrier Canada held its first conformation sanction match for Terriers only at the Brantford & District Kennel Club shows on Saturday, December 2, 2006.
We started the match right after Best in Show. Our judge, Judi Orsi, was present to go over the exhibits and award the prizes with the assistance of her capable ring steward, Carole Guillfoyle. Jim Todd was our Match Superintendent with Joanne Matheson, our chief ring steward. Rosemary Shoreman was the Match Secretary who took entries from 4 pm on the day of the match.
Prizes were donated through the generosity of Eukanuba, Adele MacGilllivray and a generous toy booth. We offered a canvas tote with breed emblem for Best in Match, Eukanuba food storage bins with towels for Group 1st through 4th and Best Puppy in Match, and toys for Best of Breed and Best Puppy in Breed.
Best in Match went to a Cairn Terrier owned by Alan and Nelly Bennett and shown by Nelly. Best Puppy in Match went to a Border Terrier owned by Jane Parker, Michael & Rosemary Shoreman and shown by Raymond Larivier.
With Christmas fast approaching, the mood at ringside was lighthearted and everyone was enjoying the match. After Best in Match exhibitors and show officials joined the baby shower being held for Rebecca McAuley. Rebecca is adopting a little girl from South America.
Our first match was a success and we look forward to hosting more conformation events soon.
